SOLUTION PLANNING

01. Start with the item
What are you identifying: individual products, cartons, equipment or people? Decide what record should be associated with each identity and how long it needs to remain useful.
02. Understand the read point
Consider where identification happens, who performs it and what happens immediately afterwards. A receiving desk, mobile stocktake and fixed read zone present different requirements.
03. Look at materials and surroundings
Surfaces, metals, liquids, distance and handling can influence your options. Share examples and operating conditions before selecting labels, tags or readers.
04. Connect capture to an action
A successful read needs a destination and purpose. Define the system that should receive the data, the event it records and how your team will use it.
05. Turn the questions into a brief
Record the items, read points, environment and systems involved. Take that brief to your local All ID team to discuss a suitable approach.
This guide is an introduction. Confirm suitability, specifications and project requirements with your local team.
